Known for its hip and wonky design, El Rey is a great joint for dinner, drinks, and late nights. Made out of shipping containers, El Rey is a sometimes-open-air spot with its retractable roof. This nightlife spot has distinct style and is right at home in the U Street Corridor.
Why you should visit it
Though El Rey is always overly loud and raging with bros, it is completely forgivable because the tacos and nachos are so good. Whether you eat inside, take it to go, or snag an order at their street window, no one will be left hungry. For drinks there are pitchers of margaritas and micheladas. For food, steak nachos and all the tacos are great.

There are also fresh churros with chocolate dunking sauce.
