The Cathedral of St James is a UNESCO World Heritage monument and the defining landmark of Šibenik, built entirely of stone between 1431 and 1535 without brick or timber. Its unique construction technique, trefoil dome and frieze of seventy-one carved heads make it a masterpiece of Gothic-Renaissance architecture. Admission is charged to enter, and the cathedral remains an active place of worship in the old town.
