The fortress guarding the pass above Split has been fought over for centuries, and the ramparts give you the whole city, coast and islands in one sweep.
You collect tickets at the Stella Croatica estate and take a guided walk round its Olive Museum and gardens, then head up to Klis and explore the fortress itself.
Local tip: There is no transport between the two sites, so come by car — Klis is about four minutes' drive from Stella Croatica.
