Sufra occupies a restored villa on Rainbow Street in Jabal Amman and was among the first restaurants in the city to present traditional Jordanian home cooking in a formal setting. The name refers to the cloth or low table on which a shared meal is laid. The menu concentrates on Jordanian and wider Levantine dishes rather than a generic Middle Eastern selection, and the kitchen also serves arak, wine and beer, which is not universal in Amman. Seating is split between the interior rooms of the old house and a large terrace and garden with views over the city, which is the more popular choice in the evening. The restaurant opens daily and reservations are advisable.
