Escale Creole

Escale Creole

A family-run table d’hotes in a garden at Moka, in the island’s central uplands, where a mother-and-daughter team serve a set Mauritian Creole lunch on an open varangue looking onto the planting. The menu changes with what is available and typically includes rougaille of Creole sausages, octopus curry and a salmi of venison, served with rice, lentils, chutneys and pickles. Lunch is the only service, from midday to mid-afternoon, Monday to Friday plus one Saturday each month, with Sundays closed. Covers are few and reservation by telephone, WhatsApp or the website is essential. Parking is available on site. Moka lies about twenty minutes inland from Port Louis and close to Eureka House.
