A free riverside park on the east bank of the Willamette directly beneath the St Johns Bridge, named for the pointed Gothic arches of the bridge’s approach piers, which frame the lawn like a nave. The city bought the land in 1968, when it was being used as a dumping ground, and residents raised the money to open the park in 1980. There are walking paths, picnic areas, an outdoor stage and a floating dock. Between 2021 and 2023 roughly 250 tons of concrete and debris were cleared from the beach, and a swimming and fishing dock followed. A free jazz festival has run here annually since 1980.
