A museum in the former headquarters of the communist-era state security service in central Shkoder, opened in 2014 in a building that had earlier served as a Franciscan seminary before being seized in 1946. The rooms have largely been left as they were found: interrogation offices, isolation cells and the basement holding area, with original doors, fittings and inscriptions scratched into the walls by detainees. Displays cover surveillance methods, the internment camp system and the persecution of Catholic clergy in a city that was a particular focus of it, using documents, photographs and personal effects. Admission is charged and guided explanation is usually available. It stands close to the pedestrianised Rruga Kolë Idromeno.
