Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum and USS Bowfin

Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum and USS Bowfin

The Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum sits beside the Pearl Harbor National Memorial Visitor Center and documents submarine warfare in the Pacific from the earliest craft to the nuclear era. Admission includes boarding the USS Bowfin, a Balao-class fleet submarine launched in December 1942 and now moored alongside; the route passes through the torpedo rooms, control room, galley and crew berthing much as they were in service. An audio guide is provided, with commentary available in several languages. The grounds hold outdoor artefacts including torpedoes, a Poseidon missile and a memorial to submariners lost in the war. There is a shaded patio, gift shop and food concession on site. Young children may not board the submarine.
