The Estudillo family began selling food in Barrio Logan in 1933 and traded from the same Logan Avenue premises for 92 years. That building was sold and the restaurant closed in 2025, causing genuine alarm in the neighbourhood; it reopened in May 2026 in a new unit on National Avenue near the Mercado del Barrio, with the fourth generation of the family running it. The cooking is unchanged: hand-made tortillas, tamales, rolled tacos, chorizo and eggs, rice and beans, served on paper plates in a plainly fitted room. Queues form well before the counter opens, and the kitchen tends to stop when the food runs out rather than at a set hour. It is the restaurant most often cited in any local account of Barrio Logan.
