Carmen Velasco built this brewery out of Mujeres Brew Club, an education and networking group for women in craft beer, taking on a turnkey brewhouse in Logan Heights during the pandemic. It is described as San Diego's first Latina-owned brewery and is entirely female-owned and run. The taproom occupies part of the Bread and Salt complex, a former industrial bakery on Julian Avenue now given over to galleries and artists' studios, which makes the surroundings unusually large and raw for a small brewery. The beers lean towards approachable lagers and ales, often with Mexican reference points, and the space is used for markets, exhibition openings and community events as much as for drinking. Barrio Logan and Chicano Park lie a few streets south.
