Parque da Liberdade is a free public park a short walk from Sintra’s historic centre, laid out with shaded paths, ponds and mature trees that make it a genuine break from the crowds around the palaces.
It’s a popular spot for locals to walk, and a natural stop if you’re following the circular route from the town centre past the Fonte da Sabuga towards the Igreja de Santa Maria.
Unlike the ticketed palace grounds nearby, there’s no entry fee and no set route — it rewards a slow wander rather than a fixed itinerary.
Local tip: Combine it with a walk past the nearby Fonte Mourisca and the Igreja de Santa Maria for a longer, still-free loop around the old town.
