Pueblito Los Domínicos

★ 4.5

Pueblito Los Domínicos is Santiago's best one-stop artisan market, a village of adobe-style buildings built around 1980 next to the colonial Los Domínicos church, with close to 200 small stalls selling genuinely handmade work. Lapis lazuli jewellery, woven wool, leather and greda pottery all come from the makers themselves, not importers.

Plan on losing an hour wandering the alleys — it's a proper labyrinth — and stop at one of the small cafés inside for empanadas or a completo once you've shopped.

Local tip: Open Tuesday to Sunday; go on a weekday morning to browse without the weekend crowds.
