Bellavista is Santiago's bohemian quarter, wedged between the Mapocho river and the base of Cerro San Cristóbal, and it's the neighbourhood locals point to for street art rather than the tidier murals elsewhere. Pablo Neruda's Santiago house, La Chascona, sits right in the middle of it.
Wander Pío Nono and Constitución streets for the murals and the bars, then walk up towards the funicular for Cerro San Cristóbal if you've energy left.
Local tip: It's liveliest, and easiest to enjoy, from late afternoon into the evening; daytime is quieter.
