Centro de Exposición y Venta de Arte Indígena

★ 4.5

Tucked into a cave carved into the side of Cerro Santa Lucía, this small artisan market puts you face to face with the makers themselves. Aymara, Mapuche and Rapa Nui craftspeople sell their own woven textiles, silverwork, wood carvings and ceramics here, with no middleman marking up the price.

It's an easy stop between the funicular and the summit lookout, and a rare chance in central Santiago to buy indigenous art directly from the person who made it.

Local tip: Ask the stallholders about their region — most are happy to explain the techniques and symbols behind their work.
