Souk El Attarine runs along the north wall of the Zitouna Mosque and has been the Medina's perfume and spice market for centuries, its narrow stalls stacked with jasmine and rose water, amber, henna and loose spices.
Perfumers here will blend a scent to order rather than just sell you a bottle off the shelf, and it's one of the few souks where the smell alone tells you exactly where you are before you've read a single sign.
Local tip: Small vials mixed with alcohol are the cheaper option; ask specifically for pure, unmixed oil if that's what you want, since the price difference is significant.
