The Royal Mausoleum of Tourbet el Bey, on Rue du Chateau in the southern Medina, is the burial place of Tunisia's Husainid beys and their families, its domed halls covered in coloured marble and carved stucco.
It reopened in February 2023 after eleven years of restoration work by the National Heritage Institute, so the tilework and marble tombs are in noticeably better condition than many other medina monuments of the same age.
Local tip: It's one of the quieter ticketed sites in the Medina, so it's a good pick if you'd rather avoid queues at the bigger attractions.
