Rab’-e Rashidi

★ 4.1

Rab'-e Rashidi is a weathered hillside complex in north-eastern Tabriz, built in the early fourteenth century under the Ilkhanid ruler Ghazan Khan as a centre of scholarship and learning.

What survives today is largely foundations and low walls rather than intact buildings, so it appeals more to visitors interested in history than dramatic architecture. Facilities on site are sparse, and reported entrance arrangements vary, so check locally on the day rather than assuming free access.

Local tip: Combine it with a wider look at Tabriz's Ilkhanid-era history rather than visiting it in isolation; the ruins reward context more than a quick look on their own.
