Herzl & Sironit Beaches

★ 4.4

Sironit and Herzl are the two beaches locals call the heart of Netanya's seafront, a wide run of golden sand and calm, lifeguarded water that sits directly below the cliff-top promenade. Sironit is known locally as the "French beach" for the language you'll hear along its shore, while Herzl, just south near Independence Square, draws a livelier crowd with jet-skiing and parasailing on offer in summer.

Both beaches are reached from the cliff top by a free glass-walled lift built into the rock face, or by the steps winding down from Ha'atzmaut Square, so you don't need a car to reach the sand.

Local tip: Go for sunset and stay for a walk along the Tayelet above – the cliff glows gold and the whole promenade turns out for an evening stroll.
