Castell de Bellver

Castell de Bellver, Palma de Mallorca

Above Palma

A striking 14th-century royal castle on a wooded hill above Palma — and one of very few round castles in Europe, with a circular courtyard ringed by a two-storey gallery and three towers. Built for King Jaume II, it later served as a prison and now houses the city history museum. The real draw is the panorama: 360-degree views over Palma, its bay and the Serra de Tramuntana. A lovely walk or short drive up from the centre.
