The souvenir and retro shop that traded on Slotsgade in central Aalborg, combining conventional souvenirs with vintage stock and vinyl records, has closed; Danish business directories list the company as ceased and its former listing no longer resolves. Slotsgade itself remains one of the principal shopping streets of central Aalborg, running towards Nytorv from the direction of the former Aalborghus Slot, from which it takes its name. Nytorv was laid out as a funnel-shaped square between Ostergade and Slotsgade in 1604 and is still the pedestrianised hub linking the main shopping streets, among them Algade and Bispensgade. Souvenirs, postcards, retro homeware and second-hand records are now spread across several small independent shops in the Slotsgade, Algade and Bispensgade area rather than concentrated in one outlet, and this category of shop turns over frequently. The Aalborg Historical Museum and the Budolfi Cathedral stand within a few minutes' walk of the same streets.
