Al-Quds Restaurant

Al-Quds Restaurant, Amman

Downtown

One of downtown Amman’s oldest and most beloved restaurants, a modest, no-frills room near the old Palace of Justice that locals swear serves the city’s best mansaf — Jordan’s national dish of lamb slow-cooked in fermented dried-yoghurt (jameed) sauce, heaped over rice and shrak bread. The menu runs deep into traditional Jordanian and Palestinian cooking (fawareh, karshat, hummus) and finishes with hot, cheese-filled kunafa. Filled with regulars, not tourists — exactly the point.

Book it: an Amman food walking tour digs deeper into the downtown food scene.
