What makes it a photo spot
A rain tree, Samanea saman, overhangs the opening, and looking upward from the foot of the stairwell frames its canopy inside the circular stone wall – the shot that has made the spot widely shared online.
Managing the crowds
Access is free and unticketed, part of the public park, with no booking system. Informal queues have nonetheless become normal – visitors report people gathering from around 07:00, with the best light for photography between 09:00 and 10:00 and waits of up to an hour at peak times. Arriving before 08:00 avoids most of this.
Getting there
Reached on foot from Dhoby Ghaut MRT station through the Fort Canning Link underpass, or from Bencoolen MRT station via Exit C. It takes only a few minutes to see and is best combined with the rest of Fort Canning Park.
