Camilla is a participatory community cooperative supermarket in Bologna, run by and for its members on a not-for-profit basis. Shoppers become co-owners, contributing a few hours of their time to keep the shelves stocked with organic, fair-trade and locally sourced food and household goods at fair prices. Championing ethical consumption, short supply chains and mutual support, it offers a grassroots alternative to conventional supermarkets and a working model of the solidarity economy.
