About Breda

Locals describe Breda as a historical, artsy, fun shopping place. Being here for only a few months, I subscribe to that. Although with a population of a little less than 200,000 this place is quite lively compared to other cities of its size, yet cozy enough for it to look like home for an expat. Just to throw in some numbers, there are 122 bars, 11 museums, 170 restaurants and 138 shops. I have not yet managed to visit them all. The city center is completely surrounded by a single water stream. And there's your best way to do some sightseeing! Get on a boat and relax. Unlike most major cities that offer boat tours, Breda's advantage is the calm atmosphere you can easily enjoy. And while you're at it, a little pampering can go a long way...why not enjoy a glass of champagne if you're more on the prissy side or simply have a nice chill lunch. The first thing I noticed in Breda was that this is a well dressed city. So I was curious to see where they do their shopping. In their 138 shops they do! As for events, Breda has a lot to offer as well. For example, the Jazz festival, held every year is a great opportunity for both Jazz aficionados and people just looking for a great time. Whether you like Jazz or not, you will find something for you to enjoy. The restaurants are also something to experience - from cosy pubs to fine wining & dining restaurants, there is something for every taste. So enjoy!
