Splantzia is the atmospheric former Ottoman quarter of Chania, centred on a shady, plane-tree square surrounded by tavernas and the churches of Agios Nikolaos, with its minaret, and Agioi Anargyroi. Quieter and more local than the harbour, it offers a glimpse of everyday Old Town life and is a charming place to pause for a coffee or meze beneath the trees.
