Santhome Basilica is a neo-gothic Roman Catholic church built over what is venerated as the tomb of St. Thomas the Apostle, one of only three churches in the world built directly over an apostle's burial site. The current white-spired structure dates to the late 19th century, replacing an earlier Portuguese-era church on the same spot near the coast.
Local tip: The small underground tomb chapel is easy to miss; ask at the entrance if you can't find the stairs down.
