Update: This spot appears to be permanently closed. Here are similar places we love in Chicago:
For three decades the Signature Lounge occupied the 96th floor of the former John Hancock Center, one of Chicago's highest rooms, famous for sweeping free-with-a-drink views over the skyline and Lake Michigan.
Locals brought out-of-town guests here for sunset cocktails, dodging the paid observation-deck queue one floor below. It closed permanently in September 2023 after 30 years, and the floors are being converted into a new observation deck.
Local tip: For the same view today, 360 Chicago's deck on the 94th floor of the same building is the closest stand-in.
