The Ecce Homo Social Shop is the retail arm of Organizația Creștină Ecce Homo, a Cluj-Napoca charity working with children, families and elderly people in difficulty. It stands on Strada Henri Barbusse in the Zorilor district, south of the centre, and sells donated second-hand clothing, shoes, toys, books, household goods and small items of furniture at deliberately low prices. Takings fund the organisation’s programmes, which include keeping children in school, providing daily meals, and assisting older people and families in crisis; the charity also runs a residential centre, Casa Ica. Stock turns over constantly because everything depends on donations, and usable items can be dropped off as well as bought.
