Haveli Dharampura

Haveli Dharampura is a heritage hotel in a mansion dated to 1887, down a lane off Chandni Chowk in Old Delhi. The building had been declared unsafe by the municipal corporation before a six-year restoration led by Vijay Goel and his son Siddhant, carried out with traditional materials and minimal intervention in the historic fabric; the work received a UNESCO Asia-Pacific Award for Cultural Heritage Conservation. Rooms are arranged around a central courtyard with carved arches and jharokha balconies. The courtyard restaurant, Lakhori, serves Mughlai and north Indian cooking, and a rooftop terrace looks towards the Jama Masjid. Kathak and classical music performances are staged in the courtyard. The surrounding lanes are narrow.
