A 66-room hotel on Fleming Road in Wan Chai, reopened after a 2017 redesign by the Hong Kong studio A Work of Substance. The interiors draw on the visual language of the city’s cross-harbour ferries and mid-century marine engineering: bottle-green tiling, ribbed metal, ribbed glass and brass fittings. Rooms are compact, as is usual on Hong Kong Island, and are planned around built-in storage rather than floor area. The ground floor holds Osteria Marzia, a coastal Italian restaurant operated by Black Sheep Restaurants. The setting is a working commercial district a few minutes from the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Wan Chai MTR station and the Wan Chai ferry pier, with the Star Street shops close by.
