The Nunobiki Herb Gardens are the largest herb gardens in Japan, spread across a mountainside above Kobe and reached by a scenic ropeway that climbs over the city and the Nunobiki Falls. A ticketed visit combines the delightful cable-car ride with terraced gardens of some 200 kinds of herbs and flowers, glasshouses, a restaurant and spectacular views over the harbour. Fragrant, colourful and offering one of the best panoramas in the city, it is a relaxing and rewarding escape into nature just minutes from the centre of Kobe.
