Äkäslompolo SportShop is a 600-square-metre independent outdoor shop that markets itself deliberately as personal and local rather than a chain, kitting out skiers and hikers with technical clothing and gear for the fells outside.
Alongside the big outdoor brands, it sells its own in-house Ylläs-branded clothing line, so it doubles as a spot for a genuine local souvenir rather than just kit.
Local tip: Staff here rent and service equipment too, so it's a good first stop if you've arrived without gear for the conditions.
