Råt&Godt

Aalborg Centrum

Why it matters: founded in 2015 by Christian Helweg, Raat&Godt builds furniture and interiors out of salvaged and leftover materials while running STU and employment programmes for young people on the edge of the labour market – the motto is “because people and materials deserve a second chance”. Skilled carpenters, smiths, a social worker and a therapist work alongside participants through every step of production; in a 2023 company portrait, 17 of its 24 staff were themselves employed in fleksjob. Browse Materialebanken, their salvage building market, or the workshop range: tables built from old gymnasium hall flooring, planters, cutting boards, and bar cabinets made from used ammunition crates. Go on a weekday and know what you are visiting – this is a working yard on Hjulmagervej in central Aalborg, not a boutique, open Mon-Thu 8-16 and Fri to 15.
