Bait Al Zubair opened in 1998 inside the former residence of the Al Zubair family and is one of Muscat's older private museums, with a strong collection of khanjars, traditional weapons, jewellery, hand-woven textiles and household artefacts from pre-oil Oman. It gives a more personal, family-collection feel than the larger National Museum.
Local tip: Smaller and quicker to see than the National Museum — a good pairing with it on the same day rather than a replacement for it.
