The Omani Heritage Gallery opened in 1995 as a not-for-profit outlet for local artisans, selling frankincense burners, silver, leather and palm-leaf baskets, indigo-dyed textiles, weaving and pottery. It's one of the longest-running social-enterprise craft shops in the city, predating most of the newer government-backed handicraft initiatives.
Local tip: Prices run higher than souq stalls, which reflects that proceeds support the artisans directly rather than a middleman.
