Marinette

★ 4.5  •  2

Marinette is a beloved bistro in the heart of old Nice, championing the real, home-style cooking of the city — cuisine niçoise as a Niçois grandmother would make it. Named with warm nostalgia, it is a cheerful, deeply local spot that has won a devoted following for doing the traditional dishes of Nice properly and generously.

The menu is a love letter to Niçoise classics — daube (rich beef stew) with polenta or ravioli, petits farcis, beignets, socca and other specialities — cooked with care and served in a warm, unfussy setting. It is the antithesis of tourist-trap Riviera dining: honest, regional, home-style food that locals genuinely queue for.

Local tip: It is small and hugely popular, so book ahead — especially for dinner. Go for the Niçoise specialities you will not easily find done this well elsewhere, like the daube and the petits farcis.
