This is the restaurant people mean when they say they ate at Kaneo – a fish-forward Macedonian and Mediterranean kitchen with terrace tables set at the waterline, directly under the cliffs below the church of St John at Kaneo. A letna bavca is literally a summer garden, and that is what you are booking: the lake is a couple of metres from your plate.
It carries 4.4 on Google across more than 1,600 reviews, the highest review volume of any restaurant in the city. You cannot drive here – the approach is on foot around the headland from the Old Town along the Kaneo boardwalk, which is rather the point.
Local tip: Do the cliff walk first and eat afterwards. The path round the headland from the town centre is the best free hour in Ohrid.
