The Social

Open since 1993 on North Orange Avenue, the Social is downtown Orlando's longest-running live music club, holding a few hundred people in a narrow, high-ceilinged room with a balcony along one side. A great many well-known bands played here before they filled arenas, and the booking policy still mixes national touring acts with local support. Sound is good for a room of this size and sightlines are reasonable, although the floor fills quickly at the front. Shows are generally ticketed in advance through the main agencies. It stands on the block that forms downtown's late-night bar strip, which becomes crowded and noisy after midnight; the Lynx central station and several multi-storey car parks are close, and Lake Eola is a short walk east.
