Folkklubs Ala Pagrabs is a cellar restaurant and folk club at Peldu iela 19 in Riga's Old Town, set beneath medieval brick vaulting that gives the space more the character of a cavern than a conventional basement. It serves Latvian food alongside what is billed as the country's largest tap selection of exclusively Latvian beer and cider, with around 32 taps. Live music is programmed five nights a week, spanning folk, rock and contemporary Latvian bands, and Wednesday evenings are given over to folk dancing, which visitors may join. Hours vary through the week: Sunday from 2pm to 1am, Monday to Wednesday from 4pm to 1am, Thursday from 4pm to 3am, Friday from 4pm to 5am and Saturday from 2pm to 5am. The venue spreads across several vaulted rooms and is heavily used by both students and visitors, so booking is recommended on Friday and Saturday nights. Vegetarian dishes are offered. It stands within walking distance of Doma laukums.
