Latgale Market (Latgalite Flea Market)

The Latgale Market, known locally as Latgalite, is a flea market of roughly 2,400 square metres at Firsa Sadovnikova iela 9A in Riga's Latgale suburb. It built its reputation in the Soviet period as a place to buy and sell new and second-hand goods that official shops did not carry, and that character has largely persisted. Management passed to Rigas Centraltirgus in 2012 and to Rigas nami in November 2022, following a reorganisation of the city's market operators. It opens Monday to Saturday from 08:00 to 17:00 and Sunday from 08:00 to 16:00. Stalls carry antiques, vintage clothing, vinyl records, bicycle parts, obsolete electronics, coins, books, tools and Soviet-era material including badges, medals and uniform items. It is frequently described as the largest flea market in the Baltic states and sits well outside the tourist circuit, in a working part of the city. Cash is the normal means of payment and haggling is customary.
