University Boulevard is a broad, tree-lined pedestrian avenue running south from the Amir Temur monument, its shaded central walkway splitting the traffic lanes on either side. It's one of the easiest places in Samarkand to get your bearings on foot, linking the newer city centre toward the older monuments.
Walk it in the morning if you're visiting in summer – the tree cover makes it one of the more comfortable stretches of the city to cover before the heat builds.
Local tip: It connects naturally to the Amir Temur monument at one end, so combine the two into a single stroll.
