Buona Forchetta

Matteo Cattaneo opened this Neapolitan pizzeria on a residential corner of South Park in 2011, and it has since become the anchor of the small commercial cluster around Beech and Fern Streets. The oven, named Sofia, was built by the Naples oven-maker Stefano Ferrara using hand-pressed bricks and a floor of Biscotto di Sorrento clay. Pizzas emerge blistered and soft-centred in the Neapolitan manner, and there is a short pasta list alongside. The restaurant holds Gambero Rosso pizza accreditation. It occupies a converted house with a covered patio, opens seven days a week for lunch and dinner, and is noisy and family-heavy in the early evening. Weekend tables are not easily secured.
