Centro Cultural La Moneda sits underneath Plaza de la Ciudadanía, right behind the presidential palace, and packs six galleries of photography, design, history and contemporary art into a purpose-built subterranean space. It's one of the most ambitious exhibition venues in the city, with major touring shows passing through several times a year.
The palace itself is free to view from outside, and the cultural centre offers free entry every day until midday — arrive early if you'd rather not pay for a ticketed exhibition.
Local tip: Many exhibitions run free on Tuesdays, so check the current programme before planning a paid visit.
