The antiques and crafts fair at Praca Benedito Calixto, in the Pinheiros district of Sao Paulo, was inaugurated in 1987 and has run every Saturday since. Several hundred stallholders sell antiques, vintage clothing, vinyl records, furniture, artwork, jewellery and handicrafts, with a food area serving regional dishes alongside. The fair trades from 09:00 to 19:00 and admission is free, though most stallholders prefer cash. Since 1990 the square has also hosted Chorinho na Praca, live performances of choro, the instrumental music form that predates samba, generally on Saturday afternoons, with choral singing later in the day; on alternating Saturdays a literary event, Autor na Praca, presents Brazilian writers. The square sits in a residential part of Pinheiros known for its bars and restaurants, so the market functions as the focus of weekend activity in the area rather than a self-contained attraction. It is reached by metro to Faria Lima or Fradique Coutinho stations, followed by a short walk.
