Rooty Hill RSL

Rooty Hill RSL, Sydney

Rooty Hill (Western Sydney)

Rooty Hill RSL opened on 29 February 1964 in western Sydney with 127 founding members and grew into one of the largest returned-servicemen's clubs in New South Wales. The club and its surrounding precinct now trade under the name West HQ, though the original Rooty Hill RSL licence remains part of the complex and both names are still used. The site at 33 Railway Street combines gaming and function rooms with a cluster of restaurants covering steak, pizza and Asian dining, a live entertainment venue in the Coliseum Theatre, and a Timezone arcade and ten-pin bowling centre. Also on the grounds are the Novotel Sydney West HQ hotel, the ONE55 fitness centre and the Sydney Gymnastics and Aquatic Centre. Live music runs on Friday and Saturday evenings alongside bingo and poker through the week. Trading runs from 10:00 to 04:00 Monday to Thursday and Sunday, extending to 06:00 on Friday and Saturday. Rooty Hill station on the Western line is a short walk away.
