Libreria Antiquaria Umberto Saba

★ 4.9

The poet Umberto Saba opened this antiquarian bookshop on Via San Nicolò in 1919, and it became a meeting point for writers including Italo Svevo before Saba’s own poetry made Trieste famous across Italy.

The shop closed for restoration and reopened to the public again in January 2025 under new management, still trading in rare and secondhand volumes from the same address, and it now holds 4.9 on Google across more than 100 reviews.

Local tip: Even if you don’t read Italian, it’s worth a look inside for the atmosphere alone.
