Museo Revoltella occupies the nineteenth-century palazzo of Baron Pasquale Revoltella, who left his home and modern art collection to the city on his death in 1869, and it holds 4.6 on Google across more than 4,300 reviews.
The collection runs from the Baron’s own opulently preserved rooms through to twentieth-century Italian painting and sculpture upstairs, with a rooftop terrace looking back over the historic centre.
Local tip: Admission is free on the first Sunday of the month, one of the better free-museum days in the city.
