Kahvila Veininmylly was a charming summer café set in a handsome 1930s mill on the banks of the Keravanjoki river in Vantaa's Tikkurila district, close to the Heureka science centre. For years it was a beloved warm-weather spot for coffee and its speciality wafer-thin pancakes, with Monday-evening dancing giving it an old-fashioned, community feel.
The riverside setting, in a protected historic mill and miller's house, was the real draw. The city ended the café's lease in 2018 and later put the ageing building up for sale, so the café is no longer operating — though the riverside walk and nearby Heureka still make the area worth a visit.
