Cantine del Vino già Schiavi, known to locals simply as Schiavi or Al Bottegon, is a much-loved wine bar and bacaro opposite the San Trovaso squero in Dorsoduro. Its walls are lined with bottles for sale, and the counter groans with inventive cicchetti topped with everything from baccalà to unusual flavour combinations. With no seating, regulars spill onto the canal-side to enjoy an ombra of wine, making it a classic Venetian aperitivo institution.
