The atelier of Hélène Kuhn Ferruzzi — trading as Norelene — is one of Venice's most special artisan workshops, a jewel of a shop in Dorsoduro near the Guggenheim. Here Hélène hand-paints sumptuous textiles using a traditional mould technique on Fortuny-style fabrics, creating richly coloured scarves, velvets and tapestries that have been exhibited around the world.
Everything is made by hand in the Venetian tradition, so a visit is part shop, part living workshop — a chance to see genuine craftsmanship and pick up a scarf, wrap or length of fabric that is a world away from mass-produced souvenirs.
